This type of doctor is known as a Doctor of Podiatric Medicine, and goes by the initials DPM after their name. There are typically eight years of schooling that must be completed. After a bachelor's degree is achieved, the interested student may continue further in a graduate program for four years. This period of time is broken in two phases. What Is a Podiatrist?

Podiatric Treatment

A podiatrist will treat the problematic areas of the feet, ankle or lower leg by prescribing the following:

A common podiatric procedure a podiatrist will use is a scanner or force plate which will allow the podiatrist to know the designs of orthotics.
